Anne Frank House

The Anne Frank House was founded in honor of the Jewish girl Anne Frank that during the Second World War was in hiding to escape the Nazi’s. Here you will experience Anne Frank’s story yourself.

The Secret Annex:
A unique part of the Anne Frank House is the property on Prinsengracht 263. Here is where Anne sat with the others in hiding in the Secret Annex. The rooms in the Secret Annex are empty, because the furniture was removed immediately after the arrest. You will see documents and items from the eight in hiding.

The Front house:
The front house was the former office of Otto Frank and the working place of the helpers. The story of Anne Frank is told here on the basis of quotes from the diary. Three short movies place the story in its historic context. In the front house you can see original objects, documents and pictures.

Next to the historic building:
The old building on the Prinsengracht 265, next to the former office of Otto Frank, has been renovated. Information about the diary and the meaning of it is given here. The original first diary of Anne frank is permanently displayed. Since 1995 there is a changing exhibition in the new building of the museum. There is a hall for receiving school groups, a bookstore, and a café.

Most of us "locals" now this from the mega lines, queuing around the corner! Bring something to eat or drink, because it's worth the wait. Very intense to witness the hardship that happend there, and see where all here diary took place.
