An old warehouse in the middle of Red Light District features this brightly lit neon above its entry which says Erotic Museum. Much higher on the façade of this 17th century canal house, you may also notice an old stone plate with a proud sentence saying: God is mijn Burgh (God is my Castle) – quite a typical Amsterdam contrast.

Erotic Museum is a shop with erotica souvenirs and on the three floors up an exhibit was built to present more about the Red Light District itself, rather than eroticism. Also available at the Erotic Museum are the collections of old erotic photographs, an interesting series of John Lennon’s lithographs, and a huge compact collection of erotic art. In a separate room with walls painted like in a kindergarten, a projection of the animated “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” can be seen, but in a version which could never be shown in any of the Disney attraction parks. The most unusual condoms that you may ever imagine are also available for sale at the Erotic Museum.
